Welcome.
Since our founding in 2005, the Sierra Leone Film Workshop* (SLFW) remains the first and only internationally recognised non-profit, non-governmental organisation independently founded and self-funded by Sierra Leonean filmmakers themselves, in Sierra Leone, specifically to support the training, practice and development of indigenous professional filmmaking in Sierra Leone.
Previously known as the Sierra Leone National Film Workshop, our name has been updated to reflect our position as a constituent project and organisation of the new Sierra Leone Film Foundation. Our wide-ranging, pioneering work (see About) has given us a uniquely broad experience, knowledge and perspective of film production in Sierra Leone as well as helping to develop awareness, build capacity and change perceptions about its possibilities.
We now focus our resources on providing two complimentary and inter-related services:-
- Professional Training
Providing opportunities for working on professional national and international productions, as well as attending workshops with visiting professional filmmakers.
- Production Services
Providing production services for international productions, in return for opportunities to provide work experience and opportunities to provide talks/workshops for local fillmmakers.
Our programs and services are available to everyone, irrespective of ethnicity, sexuality, religion or political orientation. We are proud of our origins, our work with national and international filmmakers and production groups and proud of our continued contribution to the establishment, growth and development of Sierra Leone filmmaking.
