Recognising the need for the attainment and maintenance of professional standards of practice in the Sierra Leone film industry, the Sierra Leone Film Guild is the first initiative to develop an internationally recognised national membership organisation for professionals working in all aspects of the Sierra Leone film industry.

Working with leading organisations in the UK and Africa, an internationally recognised constitutional framework has been developed. Using this framework, and through member-led democratic processes a credible professional body will have been created that will deliver international recognition of Sierra Leone's filmmaking professionals.

A consultation conference for Sierra Leone film professionals took place during the Freetown Film Festival 2011 (www.freetownfilmfestival.org). Following this, plans have been further developed and will be announced here soon.
